Join us for a member-exclusive excursion to Randie Picotello's 5-acre property where she has developed a permaculture-inspired orchard featuring many native and fruit-bearing trees, shrubs, and wildflowers. Developed around a swale and berm system for water retention, this property is an educational center for school children and reflects Randie's passion for education and the outdoors.
Learn from Randie about some of the core fundamentals of permaculture design, focusing on designing for water conservation, and view this beautiful Texas property in its spring splendor!
In May members enjoyed the first Open Garden Day at the garden of Lauren Hering. Members were able to visit her 5 beautiful acres in Leander and tour beautiful flower beds full of gorgeous natives, wildflowers, a swimming pool, and a huge chicken coop. Open Days are free for members, see our calendar for upcoming dates
HCB members lined up to view this Japanese inspired garden. Lovely hardscaping and rare and unusual plants made this place extra special. This garden has taken 4 years to transform from a basic suburban yard to an inspiration! Thank you to Robyn Patel for sharing your work.
Hill Country Water Gardens and Nursery in Cedar Park hosted a special event for club members. Calvin King, Horticulturalist at HCWG, presented “Summer Stress Preparation for your Garden” in a beautiful outdoor classroom area shaded by towering live oaks.

HCB member garden host, Judy Schwartz has transformed a bare suburban yard into an ever-changing jungle. Visitors enjoyed a large pond, with koi, goldfish, water lilies, and a bog garden. Japanese Maples line the yard, with native, tropical, and unusual plants showcased everywhere!
