Our Small but Mighty group of Gardeners and Garden Groupies
Welcomes you!
We currently meet once monthly at the Cedar Park Recreation Center where we invite a guest speaker each month and swap plants. Our membership fee is $15 yearly and gives members the privilege of attending our monthly meetings, and outings.
Each year the Hill Country Bloomers selects applicants from schools and non-profits to receive a grant. Funding is intended for both new and expanded programs to benefit children and youth. The grant is open to schools, community organizations, and nonprofits within the Leander ISD region.
The purpose is to encourage and support an understanding of plants, insects, and birds in our natural world and to nurture environmental stewardship and conservation. Funding is intended for both new and expanded programs to benefit children and youth. The goal of the program is to provide youth with hands-on learning about gardening and enhance their appreciation for nature.
- **Funding**: Up to $500 per selected project.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, we were pleased to bring back this popular garden tour. The tour showcased 6 local private home gardens. If you or someone you know has a garden and would like to be on our next tour or you need more information about the 2024 tour, please email us at hillcountrybloomers@gmail.com.
It’s time to plan your fall and winter gardens with a trip to the Cedar Park Library! Gardeners can drop off any extra or unwanted plants, cuttings, seeds, pots, as well as garden implements and walk away with something special for their own garden. Folks can chat with Wilco Master Gardeners about your “green” questions, and Hill Country Bloomers will be on hand to talk native plants. Come join us for the swap on Sept. 30th from 1-5. All the community is welcome.
Over a hundred people visited the plant sale in April. It was our biggest sale to date, with sales doubling over previous years. The plant sale was held at the pavilion in Elizabeth Milburn Park, a more visible and central location. With this increase in sales we will be able to increase our garden grants for 2024. A huge thank you to the community for supporting our organization.
The Hill Country Bloomers awarded two $ 300 garden grants to local applicants who applied for the grant. The first was awarded to Parents as Teachers LISD in Leander, this is a free early education program provided by Leander ISD for families with children ages birth to 5 who are interested in learning the best ways to ready their child for school success. They will be improving and expanding their many raised garden beds.
The second grant was awarded to Bright Star Academy in Cedar Park. The school curriculum has a weekly “Growing Up Green” lesson plan that incorporates recycling, how plants provide fresh air, how to make compost, and many other nature and environmental lessons. They will be refurbishing their gardens and adding outdoor seating for lessons around the garden.
Congratulations to these schools! Applications for 2024 Grants are now open, Click Here for more info
